WILLIAM E. HERTZNER Obituary

William Eugene Hertzner, 57, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, peacefully at his home.


He was born November 16, 1968, in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of Patrick and Carol (Wales)Hertzner.


William was a graduate of DeKalb High School class of 1986. He was a Veteran of the US Marines, having served from 1986-1994, stationed with Platoon 2054 in San Diego, California. 


William was employed at Northern Illinois University for sixteen years. He was a member of the DeKalb Moose Club and participated in St. Baldrick’s annual charity event with his best friend Jesse, a foundation for research for childhood cancers. 


William enjoyed karaoke, gaming with his friends, collecting and trading baseball cards, and spending time with his cat, Monty.


He is survived by his daughter Kalee (Malcolm) Condon; his sister Donna (Alex) Dockery; his brother Bradley Hertzner; his niece Loren Brown and her children Niellie, Av'a, and Lo’Mauri ; and his nephew Alexander Gogo (Dani).


He was preceded in death by his parents.


A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date at the DeKalb Moose Club and will be announced by the family.
