William D. Fuller, age 75, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Bethany Rehab and Health Care Center in DeKalb.
Born on December 31, 1947, in DeKalb, Illinois, William was the son of Rodney and Ardythe M. (Powell) Fuller. He married his beloved wife, Cheryl Jones, on August 13, 1977, in Paw Paw, Illinois.
Known for his great sense of humor and ever-present smile, William had the gift of making everyone around him laugh. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army and dedicated over 30 years of his life to his career as a Telecom Engineer. Prior to retirement, he was also employed at Northern Illinois University from 2005 to 2015.
William was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sycamore. His hobbies included operating as a Ham Radio Operator (call sign KC9VBZ) and playing chess, a lifelong passion.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; his three sons, William (Laura) Knudsen of Roselle, Joshua (Wendy) Fuller of Milton, FL, and Adam Fuller of San Diego, CA; thirteen cherished grandchildren; and his sister, Carolyn Johnson of Wausau, Wisconsin.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Ardythe M. Fuller; his twin brother, Robert Fuller; and his sister, Judy Rayter.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 675 Fox Avenue, Sycamore. Military Honors will be rendered.
