Wayne H. Kron, originally of Bloomington/Normal, IL, and a recent resident of DeKalb, IL, passed away peacefully at home on February 21, at the age of 94-years-old. He was born on August 24, 1931, to Albin and Florence (Tweed) Kron in Bloomington, IL. He joined the Air Force in 1950 during the Korean conflict, serving in England. After returning from England, he continued his service in the reserves. He attended Illinois State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts and Education. He began his working career with The Masonic Supply Company and then secured a life-long position as a printer in the composing room of The Daily Pantagraph newspaper in Bloomington, where he joined the International Typographical Union. In 1957, Wayne married Marian Zimmerman, and together they shared 68 years of life. He retired to the Cherokee Village community in northeastern Arkansas where he enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and traveling. Wayne was an active life-time member of numerous service organizations for many decades, including the Cherokee Village Lions Club; The Highland Elks #2539; the American Legion, Lewis E. Davis Post 56; and Valley of Bloomington Scottish Rite. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Marian, Rachel, and Doris; and a brother, Ralph. He is survived by his wife, Marian, and his two sons and their families: Carl and his wife, Clare, of DeKalb, IL; and Roger and his wife, Alma, and daughter, Rachel, of San Antonio, TX. The family thanks the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Northwestern Medicine Group for their compassionate care. Cremation services were provided by Anderson Funeral Home. A memorial service is postponed until a ceremony is held for both Wayne and his wife in the future.
