Shirley Oliver, 85 of DeKalb, IL Passed away June 28th 2026, after receiving exceptional compassionate care from DeKalb County Rehabilitation Center and Heartland Hospice Team. 

Shirley was known for her love of God, family and friends. She had strong work ethic. She worked at the Federal Building in Downtown Chicago, through B&H services from 1974 until she retired in 2003. 

After retirement, Shirley later moved into Heritage Woods Assisted Living Facility, in DeKalb, Illinois.  She united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member and served with the Active Seniors And Friends Ministry under the leadership of Leroy Mitchell, Pastor Emiratis and Pastor Joe Mitchell.

Shirley was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her four children- Tyrone Price of Chicago, Lesa Price of Bloomington, Anthony (Michele) McElroy of DeKalb and Keith Thomas of Rochelle. Fourteen grandchildren- Kaylan Bullock of Chicago, Schmaine Brown, Shane (Valencia) Kimbrough, Shaniya Jackson of Bloomington, Tremell McElroy of Colorado, Antinique Walker-McElroy, Anthony Baker-McElroy, Antwoine (Emily) Baker, Ahmad Baker-McElroy, Shariah Thomas, Jonnae Thomas of DeKalb, Mariah Loft of Tennessee, Brionna Bynum of Texas, and Brittany Hennington of Indiana. 25 Great Grandchildren. 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Three sisters Virginia, Linda, and Shanita Williams of St. Louis, 3 brothers Donald Peterson of Chicago, Sammy and Johnnie Williams of St. Louis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. 

A celebration of life will be held  from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church 1201 Twombly Road, DeKalb, Illinois, with Pastor Joe Mitchell officiating.
