Sandra K. Lovig went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 28, 2023. She was born in DeKalb, Illinois the only child to Landis E. and Avis E. (Nelson) Maves.
Sandra was raised in DeKalb and graduated from DeKalb High School class of 1958. She started working while still in high school at the DeKalb Daily Chronicle through the School work program.
After graduation she took a position at the Wurlitzer Company in data processing. She held various positions, the last in the sales department order entry position. It was at work she met the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Lovig. Due to company policy once they were married she left the company.
Sandra and Jerry married on May 10, 1980 and enjoyed 42 wonderful years together. They enjoyed antique collecting, road trips and their cottage on the Rock River in Oregon, Illinois. Sandra truly enjoyed fishing. She retired from The National Bank and Trust Company’s Computer Department June 2000.
Sandra accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior later in life but never looked back. She is a member of Bethel Assembly of God, Sycamore, Illinois where she has been a faithful servant. Her talent at the piano was her specialty. For several years she played special music along with her husband Jerry at the organ for Sunday Services, they also provided the Hymns for Christmas Eve Candle light services for several years. Sandra also played for the Wednesday night Bible Study worship.
Sandra truly loved Jesus, she was always known for saying “I Love My Jesus”. She also loved her Bethel Assembly of God Church family and her many friends she met through the years.
She is survived by her husband Gerald of DeKalb.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 131 West Elm Street, Sycamore, with the Rev. William Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
