Ruth Ann McMenamin, 63, of Galena, Illinois, formerly of DeKalb passed away Monday, April 20, 2026, at Midwest Senior Care Community. in Galena, Illinois.

She was born February 5, 1963, in DeKalb, Illinois, the daughter of John and Rosemary (Herrmann) McMenamin.

Ruth was a graduate of DeKalb High School class of 1981. She lived most of her life in DeKalb, moving to Galena in 2018 to be close to family.

Ruth was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1984 at the age of 21. She never let the disease define her. She had an amazing, upbeat, positive spirit all her life. She entertained and uplifted everyone especially with her witty comebacks and remarks. She was a joy to be around.

Ruth leaves behind her brother Paul (Nancy) McMenamin of Galena, IL; her niece Heather (Clark) Feller of Cedar Rapids, IA; her nephews Jeremy (Jen) Jarczynski of Roanoke, VA, and Brian Trijio; and several grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Steven McMenamin, and her sister Rita Jarczynski.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Greg Vandigo and the staff at Midwest Medical Center Senior Care Community for all of their wonderful, loving care and friendship.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. Private Interment of cremated remains will be held at St Mary Cemetery, in DeKalb.
