RONALD MULLIS Obituary

Ronald Allyn Mullis was born October 28, 1929 in DeKalb, Illinois to Virgil and Berniece Mullis. He departed this earth on December 22, 2022 at age 93.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 siblings and in 2013 by his wife of 62 years, Kalah (Plapp) Mullis from Malta. Ronald's two surviving sisters, Char and Merille, are deeply saddened by his loss and share some family memories. "We had wonderful parents who created such a strong Christian family unit, our childhood years (and beyond) were fun, memorable, and we each had our prescribed work assignments.  With a family of seven children, there was never a dull moment on the Mullis Farm.” He was raised in the DeKalb area and followed his father into farming until 1971. At that point he and the family moved to Sedona, Arizona where he worked with heavy equipment and a tree nursery. In 1975 he and the family moved to Lincoln, New Mexico where he and several partners started Mountain Valley Nursery. Returning to Sedona in 1985, Ron and Kalah settled in for the remainder of their lives. Ron was primarily a master stone mason, specializing in the red sandstone of the area, but also did roofing and other construction until he retired. Ron had a love of old cars and trucks and restored several in his later years. After Kalah’s passing Ron was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Cottonwood, AZ.

Surviving him are his 8 children; Jai Mullis of Sedona, AZ; Jon Mullis of Clearwater, ID; Steve Mullis of Clarksdale, AZ; Roger Mullis of Harrison, AR, Mary McTeigue of Gresham, OR, Robert Mullis of Roswell, GA; Sean Mullis of Suwanee, GA and Martha Robinson of Peoria, AZ. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 23 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.

A visitation will be held from 1pm until time of service 2pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 South 4th Street, DeKalb, IL on May 20, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church/Missions, 2650 S. Union Dr., Cottonwood, AZ 86326
