Richard A. Sampson, 78, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Bethany Rehab and Health Care Center.

He was born November 8, 1945 in Melrose Park, Illinois, the son of Harold and Rose (Radell) Sampson. 

Richard  was a Veteran of the US Air Force. 

He is survived by his children Ken (Julia) Ziga of DeKalb, David Sampson of Lisle, Richard (Janet) Sampson of Geneva, Jason (Marcia) Sampson of Nevada, Iowa and Jenny (Eric) Harms of Nevada; his twenty one grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; his brother Lee (Terry) Marcellis of Rockford; his sisters Terri Iverson of Tennessee and Sylvia Sampson-Haney of Georgia; and his sister-in-law Jeanette Marcellis of Lockport, Illinois; also many nieces and nephews.    

He was preceded in death by his son Michael Chesney; his parents; his stepfather Willard Randell; his sister Catherine Bales; and his brother Edward Marcellis.

The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with Full Military Honors by DeKalb American Legion Post 66.  Interment of cremated remains will be at a later date at Clarendon Hills Cemetery, in Westmont, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
