Paul R. Carlson, 100, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, Illinois.

 He was born December 31, 1923, in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of Rodney and Ruth Carlson. Paul married Katherine Morris on August 16, 1947, in DeKalb.

 Paul was a graduate of DeKalb High School class of 1941.  He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served during World War II.  Paul was a long-time resident of DeKalb. He worked in the automobile industry, working for a short time as general manager for Brad Manning Ford and then at Werner’s Auto until his retirement. Paul was a member of the DeKalb American Legion Post NO. 66, where he holds a prestigious title since he has been with the Legion for 77 years. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs.

 He is survived by his daughter Cathy (Edward) Bauer Jr. of Waterman; his son Paul (Brenda) Carlson of Rockford; his grandchildren Teena (Brian) Klotz of Leland, Edward (Sara) Bauer III of Waterman, Eric (Kate) Carlson of Rockford, and Scott Carlson of Rockford; his great-grandchildren Brittany (Ron) Favia, Cade, Kylee, Jacob, Barrett and Allison; his great-great-grandson, Jayce and his beloved cousin Lester Gilley of Bisbee, AZ.

 He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine; his son Rodney Eugene; his parents; and his sister Beverly Adams.

 A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 21, 2024, to honor both Paul and his beloved wife, Katherine (Katie) at Fairview Park Cemetery, in DeKalb, with Full Military Honors for Paul by DeKalb American Legion Post 66 in celebration. Join the family at the DeKalb American Legion Post 66 at 3:00 pm following the service to celebrate both of their lives.
