Patricia Ann Sherman, age 89, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026.

Patricia was born on May 5, 1936, in Aurora, Illinois, to Ralph and Ellen Herrmann, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother Vernon Herrmann and sister Jean Wegener.

Patricia dedicated many years of her life to service and care for others. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Hawkeye Community College, and later at Northern Illinois University, where she remained until her retirement. Never one to slow down, Patricia continued to serve her community as a Caregiver with Lutheran Social Services, retiring for the final time at the age of 75.

Her greatest passion was her Catholic faith. Patricia was a devoted member of the Church and a lay Carmelite for many years, finding deep meaning in prayer, service, and spiritual devotion. Her faith guided her life and shaped the way she loved and cared for others.

Patricia was immensely proud of her family and remained actively involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whenever possible. She is survived by her children: Richard (Jennifer) Sherman of Marion, Iowa; Ronald (Robin) Sherman of Puyallup, Washington; Katherine Kaschke-Morford (Mike) of East Moline, Illinois; and Thomas (Christine) Sherman of Huntley, Illinois; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way. Her love, support, and quiet strength will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A Visitation will be held on January 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, Illinois.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 321 Pine Street, DeKalb, Illinois.

Patricia’s life was marked by faith, dedication, and a steadfast love for her family—a legacy that will continue in the lives of all who knew her.
