Oscar Alamia, 60, of DeKalb, Ill. passed away September 3, 2024. He passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on April 23, 1964, in San Juan, Texas. Oscar was the son of Benito and Francisca Alamia. A graduate of DeKalb High School, Class of 1982.

Oscar a Marine Corps veteran. At the age of 22 enlisted in the Marine Corps, a service he held in the highest regard. During his time in the Corps, he attained the rank of Corporal and was honored with several accolades, including the Rifle Marksmanship Badge - Expert, the Good Conduct Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd Award), the Meritorious Mast, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Although Oscar did not have children of his own, he cherished his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Known for his great sense of humor, his love for the Green Bay Packers, passion for drawing, and love of bike riding, Oscar was a kind soul who would go out of his way to help his friends and family.

Oscar is survived by his siblings: Victoria (Victor) Cano, Noemi (Ricardo) Nieto, Gloria (Moises Sr.) Pizano, Jose Alamia, Armando (Nancy) Alamia, Eloy Alamia, and Amelia Alamia and his brother-in-law James Boyes. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, including Norma, Nora, Rachel, Frances, Olga, Veronica, Ninfa, Kdee, Dylan, John, Moises Jr., Ryan, Jamie, Anthony, Justin, David, September, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Francisca; his brothers and sister, Bobby, Alfonso, David, Benito, Noel, and Eglentina; his nephew and niece, Ricardo Nieto Jr. and Kristin Alamia; and his great-nephew and great-niece, Kadin Shepperson and Elle Gould, along with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 8,2024 from 1pm to 3pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S 4th St, DeKalb, IL 60115

Family and friends will meet on Monday September 9, 2024 for a 11am graveside service at St Marys Cemetery in DeKalb.
