Norbert E. Selent, 75, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center. 

He was born September 23, 1949, in Germany, the son of Alfred and Johanna (Ludwig) Selent.

Norbert was a graduate of University of Illinois Chicago Circle Campus with a BS Mechanical Engineering. He was an avid woodworker and tinkerer.  

Norbert was a man of faith and a member of the DeKalb 7th Day Adventist church.

He is survived by his brother Henry; his sister Ingrid (Karl) Peterson; his nieces Jill and Brittnay; and his grand nieces and grand nephews Joseph, Alyson, Maksim, Penelope and Emilia. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
