Michael Edward Dillon, 69, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023.

Born May 21, 1954, in Gibson City, Ill., he was the son of Donald and Edna (Mulhern) Dillon. He attended Marmion Academy and was a graduate of Regis University. On June27, 1981, at House of God in Mooseheart, Ill, Michael married Sheila T. Gallagher.

Michael established Gallagher, Dillon, Friedlund & Associates in 1990, retiring in 2021, and was President of Kingston Mutual Insurance Company for 35 years. He was a member of Christ the Teacher Parish.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila of DeKalb; children, Megan (Justin) Pogge of Naperville, Kathleen Kenney of Chicago, Mary Brigid (Jason) Creek of Naperville and Moira of Chicago; 10 grandchildren, Kaelyn, Braden and Clara Pogge, Rosemary and Dillon Kenney, Elsie, Killian, Mary Maeve, Margaret, and Quinn Creek; siblings Mary Dorsey of St. Louis, Sue (Lou) Jacobson of St. Charles, Don Dillon of Colorado Springs, Patricia Beckemeyer of Rockford, Tim (Ila) Dillon of Seldovia, AK, and Theresa (Jim) Brennan of St. Charles; brother-in-law Kevin (Kathleen) Gallagher of St. Charles; several nieces and nephews, and his dear friends, Colin (Julia) Smith, Chris (Anne) Smith, and Rev. Cliff Smith.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna; father, Donald; mother-in-law, Rosemary Gallagher; father-in-law, Robert Gallagher; siblings, Kathleen (Jack) McGonagle and Edward; and sister-in-law Kathleen (Tony) Alholm.

Michael loved nothing more than his devoted wife who never left his side. He enjoyed spending time with his beautiful grandchildren and watching his beloved Chicago Cubs.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Christ the Teacher Parish at Newman Catholic Student Center, 512 Normal Road in DeKalb officiated by Msgr. Stephen Knox and Rev. Paul White. Burial will follow at Afton Township Cemetery in DeKalb.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.
