MARY LOU MCKENZIE Obituary

Mary Lou McKenzie, 83, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois.


She was born November 1, 1942, in Garden Plain, Illinois, the daughter of Clifford and Ella (Green) Smith. Mary Lou married Gerald Lee McKenzie on August 3, 2002.


She is survived by her children Christy (Craig) Hagemeier, Troy (Cinda) Wiersema: her grandchildren Jeremy Hagemeier, Dustin Hagemeier, Eric (Mikalah) Wiersema, Amy (Zach) Dick;  her great Grandchildren Tim, Kai, Rhiannon, Dara and Danni; her stepdaughter Joan Prebish; her siblings Clifton “Bud” Smith, Beth (Ray) Eshelman and Gene Smith; and many nieces and nephews. 


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald; and her sister-in-law Donna Smith.


The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 2501 N. Annie Glidden Rd DeKalb, with Rev. Jonathan Crail officiating. Private interment in Rochelle.


Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.
