She was born September 16, 1945, in Dekalb, IL to Dale and Mary (Sauder) Bend. She married LaVern R. Jordal on September 10, 1966, in Waterman, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Richard Bend and Phyllis Christensen.

After graduating from Waterman High School, she enrolled into Copley School of Nursing at Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora, IL to become a Registered Nurse. Upon graduation, she went to work for 40 years at the Dekalb Clinic. Carole worked in several different departments during her tenure at the clinic but spent most of her time in the surgical department. She could also be found in a tractor cab in the fall when needed to help harvest crops on the farm. Carole may be more remembered for her cake baking and decorating skills. Many local brides and graduates celebrated their big day with cakes made by Carole and neighbor Eleanor Fritsch.
Carole served the community well. She held active roles at Rollo Congregational Church including serving in leadership as well as teaching Sunday School. She built lifelong friendships through her involvement in the Leland Junior Woman’s Club. After retirement, she also served on the board of the Saddlebrook Unit 23 Association. She enjoyed exploring arts and crafts. Several of her paintings, stained glass, and ceramic pieces can be found in the homes of her family.
Carole had a zest for life and loved to learn and travel. Her home and her ear were always open to anyone wishing to visit. Whether traveling with friends or family there were always new things to see, places to visit, and friends to make. She passionately loved her family especially her grandchildren and tried to spend as much time as she could to invest into their lives.
Carole was deeply loved by her husband of 56 years, her children, grandchildren, family, and many friends. She will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, Dekalb, IL from 1-3 pm with a short service at 3pm. A celebration of life will be held immediately following at Fatty’s Pub and Grille in Dekalb.
