MARY LOUISE (ALMS) MACK Obituary

Mary Louise (Alms) Mack, 95, of Hinckley, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born the daughter of Frank and Carolyn (Waytenick) Alms on April 11,1928, Mary went to Alms Country School which was named after her uncle who helped build it. She attended DeKalb High School and graduated with the class of “46”. She attended beauty school in Rockford, Illinois and owned shops in DeKalb, Waterman, and Hinckley.

She was married to her beloved husband, Harley Mack on April 22,1965. Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Church in DeKalb, Illinois. Mary and Harley farmed in the Waterman and Hinckley area all of their married life. Mary’s hobbies included a love of taking photos, bowling, gardening (vegetables and flowers), playing all kinds of card games with friends, and spent many hours on her computer. She also loved her birthday group with whom she would enjoy dinners, card games, and lively conversations. Harley and Mary liked to travel and took many cruises. They also enjoyed trips to Arizona where her brothers’ family lived. Mary loved all of her nieces and nephews very much.

Survived by her sister-in-law Irmgard Mack, nieces and nephews, Linda (Larry) Hawbaker, Sandy (Larry) Weber, Susan (Tom) Crouch, Ronnie Alms, Lori (Larry) Elliott, Lou Ann (Chris) Denny, Mike (Julie) Alms, Jenny Melton, Richard (Kay) Alms, Joanie Alms Contreras and many great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Carolyn Alms, her husband Harley Mack, five brothers and three sister-in-laws Frank Alms, James/Jimmy (Wilma) Alms, Robert (Gloria) Alms, Leonard (Beverly) Alms, John/Jackie Alms, and two brother in-laws Imas Mack, Donald Mack, and two sister-in-laws Margery Mack and Dorothy Mack.

A private funeral mass will be held at St Mary’s Church in DeKalb for immediate family. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley.
