Lawrence Asselborn, of Hinckley, Illinois passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 30, 1942, in Aurora, Illinois, to Harold and Loretta Asselborn.
Lawrence proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He and his wife of 54 years, Donna, were the longtime owners of Ozzie’s Greenhouse in Hinckley. Lawrence will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, known for his sense of humor and commitment to his community.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna; his children Todd (Cindy) Asselborn, Heather (Bradley) Edwards, and Dawn (Darin) Waugh; and his seven grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply. He is also survived by his siblings Kay Medernach, Ron (Judi) Asselborn, Donna (Ron) Dieter, Dean (Patti) Asselborn, and Debbie Cotter, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Loretta Asselborn, and his brothers-in-law, Frank Medernach and Chris Cotter.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. 4th Street, DeKalb, Illinois 60115.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the DeKalb County Veterans Assistance Commission in honor of Lawrence’s service to his country. Donations can be mailed directly to 2500 N Annie Glidden Rd, DeKalb, IL 60115, or left with Anderson Funeral Home.
