Lavon “Whitey” White, 82, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026, at his home.

He was born November 22, 1943, in Delaplaine, Arkansas, the son of Carmel and Vera (Broom) White. Whitey married Ginger “Midge” Harrelson on December 1, 1961, Sandwich, Illinois.

Whitey was employed at Northern Illinois Finance in DeKalb and was a salesman for various office supply companies including Davenport Office Supply.  He retired as a custodian from Gwendolyn Brooks Elementary School. Whitey was a member of Sycamore Church of Christ and the DeKalb Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He is survived by his wife Ginger; his daughters Cherie Rasmusson of Aurora and Donna (Todd) Cearlock of Summertown Tennessee; his grandchildren Trista (E.J.) Calvert, Lache (Megan) Cearlock, and Saranda Rasmusson; and his great grandchildren Evie-Kate Calvert, Ace Calvert and Alessa Cearlock.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Billie Jo White.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Sycamore Church of Christ, 109 Swanson Rd, Sycamore IL 60178.
