Larry Leroy Parks, 73, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026 at Briar Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Indian Head Park, IL.
Born in January 1953 in Sandwich, Illinois, Larry was the son of Robert and Bernardine Parks. He graduated from DeKalb High School in 1971 and went on to build a long career with General Electric in DeKalb, where he worked until his retirement. 
Larry was a skilled gunsmith and an accomplished marksman who took great pride in his craft. He was an active member of the Sycamore Sportsman’s Club and participated in smallbore trap and skeet leagues throughout the region. He also had a deep love of hunting, spending many cherished hours outdoors with friends and family. Known for his sharp wit and sense of humor, Larry brought laughter and warmth to those around him. 
He is survived by his son, Robert Parks; his grandchildren; his brother, Bryan Parks; and his sister, Robin (Elwyn) Fisch; and many nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bernardine Parks, and his sister, Diana Parks Forbes. 
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. June 19, 2026 at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 s. 4TH St., DeKalb, Illinois, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in his honor. For more information, please visit www.andersonfuneralhomeltd.com or call 815-756-1022.
