KENNETH E. HULMES

    Kenneth E. Hulmes, 78, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at his home in DeKalb.                                                                  

He was born June 29, 1945, in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of Everett and Erlene (Clark) Hulmes. Kenneth married Joanne Clement on September 20, 1969 at the Waltham Presbyterian Church in Utica, Illinois.

Kenneth was a lifelong farmer in DeKalb and avid vegetable gardener. He was also owner and operator of Kenneth Hulmes Trucking Company. Kenneth was a member of The DeKalb Farm Bureau and First Congregational Church in DeKalb. He was fond of cats and dogs of all types and was always willing to take in strays.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; his children, Steven (Melanie) Hulmes, Carrie (Dennis) Niles, and Brett (Tracey) Hulmes;  eight grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Jayne) Hulmes; one niece and one nephew.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at First Congregational Church, 615 North First Street, DeKalb. Burial will follow at Afton Cemetery in DeKalb.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.
