KENNETH JOSEPH BURNS JR

Kenneth Joseph Burns Jr of Sycamore IL passed away on April 25, 2023 at Loyola University Medical Center. He was born on August 8, 1974 in Edison, New Jersey to Kenneth J. Burns, Sr (Linda Burns) and Mary Lou Sundberg Burns.

Beloved brother of Bridget Atherton, Karen Lytle (Dave Duberstein), Bob (Jackie) Lytle and Will (Kembly) Lytle and uncle to Michele, Matt, Mark(Angela), Alex, Jacob, Maddie, Lucia and Sammy and great-uncle to Jackson.

Kenneth worked at Upstaging, Inc. for 32 years where everyone knew him as “Junior”. He traveled the world as crew chief for the lighting company that worked with many well known artists and events. He was known for his professionalism, dedication, leadership, kindness and gentle ever-present smile. His calm demeanor allowed him to become a mentor to many new Upstaging crew members over the years. We are in awe of the outpouring of love, support and most of all the respect everyone has shown for him.

They knew him as a professional and a friend, we knew him as a son or brother. We have great memories of him giving his younger brother a mohawk, setting the kitchen chair on fire, his ferocious pet iguana, his generosity when he showed up for holidays or birthdays with gifts from his travels, introducing us to the little town of Arivaca, AZ and wearing his Bermuda shorts year round held together with duct tape and staples. We will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 4pm - 8pm at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. 4th St., DeKalb IL 60115.
