Kathy Lorainne Martin, aged 73, passed away peacefully at her home on March 16, 2025. Born on December 4, 1951, in Belvidere, Kathy was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed weekly bingo sessions with her friends, traveling with her family, and experimenting with new recipes she discovered online or through cooking shows. Prior to her retirement, Kathy served as a registered nurse at Oakcrest in DeKalb. Kathy and her husband, Dave, relocated to Texas in 1981 before returning to Illinois in 1987 to care for ill family members. Her home was always welcoming, offering an open door and a pot of coffee to anyone who visited.

Kathy is survived by her children: Chris (Carmen) Bennett of Geneva, Jamie (Adam) Music of Lakemoor, Nicholas (Tammy) Bennett of Bristol, VA, Janet Martin, and Joseph Martin, both of DeKalb; her eleven grandchildren: Cristian, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Charles, London, Alixandra, Aidan, Cameron, Theodore, Isaac, and Myles; her sisters: Sue (Lynn) Hinz of Germanton, WI and Linda (Gene) Bauman of Whitehouse, TX; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Marvin and Margaret Jackson; her husband, David Martin; her son, B.J. Martin; and her brother, Steven Jackson.

A visitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S 4th St, DeKalb on Thursday March 20, 2025 from 4:00pm until time of service at 5:00pm.
