JOSLYN YVETTE TURNER Obituary

   On Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Lord called Joslyn Yvette Turner home to be with him.


   She was born April 28, 1955 in Memphis Tennessee. Joslyn graduated from Booker T Washington High School in Memphis, TN. At the age of 18, Joslyn moved to Chicago, IL.,  where she began working and building a life for herself. After many years in Chicago, Joslyn moved to DeKalb, IL.  She continued to build her life and became a pillar of the community, proudly serving as a board member in DeKalb County; helping families establish themselves and guiding young women to a better way of life. Joslyn was a great cook. She loved trying new dishes and making them her own. She had a love for music, notably classic rock.


   As a little girl Joslyn was taught the ways of the Lord. Never forgetting training she continued serving the Lord and studying his word. "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6.


   Joslyn found great joy in serving others and deepening her faith. After being invited to church by a close friend, the pastor's mother, she attended The DeKalb Church of Christ and began studying the Bible She was baptized on September 2, 2013 making Jesus the Lord of her life.


   Joslyn leaves to celebrate her legacy, her daughter Marquis Dreyer (Mark Dreyer), her son Phillip Turner (Reneka Turner), and son Marcellus Turner; her brothers Michael Turner (Evita Turner) and Johnny Turner; her nephew/sons Kareem Burgess (Kellee Burgess), Anthony Turner; her grandchildren Ameer Muhammad, Star Riley, Kayla Booker, Cheyse Turner, Max Booker, Alaya Turner, Brooklyn Turner, Jason Booker, and Dallas Turner.


   She is preceded in death by her mother Joyce Turner; her son Andre Turner; and her sisters Melanie Burgess and Beverly Turner.


   A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026, at DeKalb Church of Christ, 425 Fisk Ave, DeKalb, with Pastor Perez officiating.
