John F. “Jack” Rodgers, 81, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at his home.
He was born August 11, 1942 in Aurora, IL the son of Donald and Donna (Vogeler) Rodgers. John married Linda Cone on May 14, 1966, at DeKalb Methodist Church.
John was a Veteran of the US Army. He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor in Montgomery for 54 years prior to retiring in 2015. John was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore and the DeKalb American Legion. He was a shareholder and avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. John enjoyed fishing and trains.
He is survived by his wife Linda; his children Corie (Ehren) Mertz of DeKalb and Michael (Lisa) Rodgers of Pleasant View, Utah; his grandchildren Avery Mertz of Braidwood and Jackson Mertz of San Diego, California; his step-grandchildren Jessica, Justin and Zack Cassity; one step great-grandchild Mary Dean; his three sisters Regina (Don) Amato of Elgin, Charlotte Brantley of Cortland and Lorelei (Dennis) Bell of DeKalb; and his brother Richard (Mishelle) Rodgers of DeKalb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Jacqueline; and his brother Larry Rodgers.
Private graveside service will be held at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
