Joanne S. Moody, 97, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center. 

She was born January 16, 1928, in DeKalb, Illinois, the daughter of Savo and Rista (Elakovich) Simich. Joanne married Glenn Henry Moody on July 13, 1958, at First Lutheran Church, DeKalb. 

She is survived by her daughter Desann Moody, son David (Deborah) Moody; and her daughter Christine Moody (Tom Vincent); her grandchildren Samantha Moody and Andrew Moody, sister-in-law Doris Simich and several cherished nieces and nephews. 

A lifelong resident of DeKalb, she graduated from NIU and then taught Home Economics and Family Living at both Mt. Morris and Sycamore High Schools.  She and Glenn loved to travel and enjoyed taking trips with her sister and brother and their spouses.  Many games of bridge were played, many sights were seen, and many laughs were had. 

Family was the most important thing, and she loved nothing more than baking cookies, cakes and pies and sharing these treats with a cup of coffee at her kitchen table. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, her brother Jack Simich, her sister Desa Henn and brother-in-law Marshall Henn. 

A celebration of life will be held at 12pm, Monday, September 22, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. 

Visitation will be from 10am – 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
