Jerome Edward Johnson, 25, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024.

 He was born October 30, 1998, in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of Lamonte Johnson and Michelle Gilmore.

  Jerome was employed as a forklift operator at Tyson Foods in Ottawa in addition to previously working on the family farm. Jerome attended Illinois Valley Community College for a HVAC degree. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, being outdoors, camping and barbequing. He was a lover of animals, especially his dog Bruno. Jerome was a sports enthusiast and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He had an expansive taste in music and enjoyed going to concerts. Jerome had a golden soul and infectious laugh. He was kind hearted and truly a good man who loved to spread positivity and light. His smile would brighten any room.

 Jerome will be remembered for being an amazing son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. 

 He is survived by his siblings Jessica King of Ottawa, Chantel King,  Montia (Michael) Storey, Mariah Norris-Johnson and Desiree Johnson; his father Lamonte Johnson; his step father John Douglas; his niece Anessa; his nephews Enzo, Michael and Messiah; his uncles Kevin Gilmore, Michael Wolf and Lamelle Johnson; and his grandfather Daniel Gilmore.

 He was preceded in death by his mother and paternal grandparents.

 Memorial services will be held on Sunday June 9, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.

 Memorial visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
