Jean M. Greensley, 70, of DeKalb, died Sunday January 5, 2025, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.
She was born November 27, 1954, in Evergreen Park, Illinois the daughter of Roy and Ruth (Bennis) Greensley.
Jean was a Geologist for the United States EPA in Chicago for 32 years prior to her retirement in 2022.
She married Lary Hawkins October 15, 1988 at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Evergreen Park.
She was a member of Christ the Teacher Church in DeKalb.
Jean loved all things geologic, and she was an avid photographer. She dearly missed her Golden Retriever Lily.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her aunt Kay Greensley.
Survivors include her husband Lary; her two daughters Heather (Maria Bruno) Hawkins of Schaumburg and Erin (Oisin Galvin) Hawkins of Chicago; her two sisters Mary Kay (Len) Adzima of Columbus, OH and Phyllis Greensley of Evergreen Park; her brother Robert Greensley of Evergreen Park; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon, January 18, 2025 at Christ the Teacher Parish, 512 Normal Road, DeKalb, with Fr. Robert Gonnella officiating.
A Celebration of Life will follow from 1pm to 4pm at Faranda’s Banquets, 302 Grove St, DeKalb.
