Helga Keding, 81, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.
She was born January 3, 1943, in Germany, the daughter of Ewald and Berta (Middlstat) Wolter.
Helga married Ulrich Keding on October 13, 1961, in DeKalb.
Helga worked in food service at Northern Illinois University for over 30 years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Deutsch American National Klub “DANK” in DeKalb.
Helga enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and weekly lunches with her coworkers.
She is survived by her daughter Jeanette (Mike) Edwards; her son Mike Keding; she was “Oma” to her six grandchildren Natasha (Andrew) McPartlin, Sara (Antonio) Huerta, Wayne Edwards, Ashley Joyce, Savanna (Edgar) Rivera and Nadia Meyers; and her ten great grandchildren Jackson and Connor, Kalvin, Arlo, Abrianna and Adelina, Declan and Mason, and Natalie and Victoria; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughter Diane Vagle (Keding); her three brothers Ed, Raimund, and Otto; and her sister Renate.
Memorial visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.
