GERALD E. HALVERSON

Gerald E. Halverson of DeKalb, IL passed away on May 24, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on April 26, 1940, in DeKalb, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Hegland, his mother, Leona Halverson, his stepfather John Halverson, his brother Roger, his nephew Matthew, two stepbrothers, one stepsister and his daughter-in-law, Adriana Halverson.

He was employed as a union plumber and pipefitter for over 40 years.  He honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1961.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, was an avid sports and trivia fan, particularly of the Chicago White Sox.  He proudly supported his sons’ musical and artistic endeavors and his daughter’s health care career.  He also enjoyed the company of his four grandchildren, who visited often.  He was very active in the local church community at Trinity Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marcia, and their four children – Brian, Bruce, Rhonda (Tony Koach) & Randy (Wanda Coriano).  His four grandchildren – John & Valerie Koach, Tyler & Jagger Halverson, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in the name of Gerald E. Halverson, in care of Anderson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, IL - Friday, June 2nd, 2023, from 4-7pm.

Funeral service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 303 South Seventh Street, DeKalb, IL- Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, at 10am.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston, IL.
