George Burtzos, 85, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.
He was born August 9, 1938, in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of George and Lucille (Kliebenstein) Burtzos.
George married Jeanne Perusse on June 11, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb, Illinois. They enjoyed over 63 years of marriage together.
George was a Veteran of the US Air Force.
He was employed at Richardson’s, and then 4th St Motors, A.O Smith, Turner’s in Sycamore and finally Goodyear prior to his retirement in 2004.
George was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed goose and duck hunting, golfing, motorcycle riding and bowling. He also enjoyed trips to the lake with family and friends. George was an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his children, Daryl (Robin) Burtzos of DeKalb, Cindy (Dave) Wallin of DeKalb; his grandchildren, Taylor (Daniel) Honeyman, Zachary Wallin, and Mckenna Wallin; his great-grandson, Lane Honeyman; his brother, Ron (Christine) Burtzos of DeKalb.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Bill Burtzos and his sisters, Mary McClelland and Sally Fagan.
The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt officiating. Full Military Honors by DeKalb American Legion Post 66.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
