GARY SCOTT FRACKMAN Obituary

Gary Scott Frackman, 68, of Naperville, Illinois, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at Edward Hospital in Naperville.
Gary was born on December 3, 1956, to Yvonne Merzer Frackman and Allen Frackman. He grew up on Long Island, attending Douglas MacArthur High School, where he cultivated a love of music and played the trumpet.
Gary shared a close and profound bond with his mother, who was not only his greatest supporter but also a source of resilience and inspiration, as she was a holocaust survivor. Gary was raised Jewish and connected to his Jewish culture throughout his life.
As an adult, Gary moved to Los Angeles, California, where he worked as an electrician at Grenell. He took pride in his work, installing alarm systems in the homes of celebrities, including his favorite musician, Frank Zappa. Los Angeles also became the place where he met the mother of his two beloved children, beginning a new chapter in his life.  Later, Gary relocated to Chicago to raise his children, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his family. Despite facing a debilitating back injury that marked the start of a 20-year battle with health challenges, Gary remained a devoted single father in a city where he had no immediate family. He cooked, cleaned, disciplined, and instilled strong morals in his children, always emphasizing love and resilience. Above all, Gary’s two children were his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Gary fought bravely through his health struggles, always maintaining a sense of humor and strength that inspired those around him. He is survived by his two children, Lauren (Matthew Gonzales) Frackman, and Michael Frackman as well as his cherished dog and companion of 14 years, Cassie Frackman.
Gary will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him. His legacy of love, perseverance, and kindness lives on in his family and friends.
