Gamba Jo Jo Moronfolu, 75, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 12, 2026. A devoted believer in Jesus Christ, he had a deep love for music, particularly Christian praise and worship songs, and enjoyed following sports. Known for his quiet and reflective nature, he cherished time in voluntary seclusion and solitude, often transcribing praise and worship songs.
He was born on March 3, 1950, in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, the son of John and Mary (Williams) Morris. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree and served the university for many years as a building service worker.
He is survived by his son Kenyatta (Aisha) Greer, his grandchildren Keagan and Kyleigh, his nephew Christopher Morris, and many relatives and loved ones in Ohio and Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers John and James.
No service will be held.
