Frank Allen Bredeson, 91, passed away on June 27, 2024, in Shabbona, Illinois. Born on March 18, 1933, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Frank lived a life marked by deep personal and professional achievements.
Before graduating from Augustana College, Frank served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. Following his service and college education, he embarked on a successful career with JC Penney before establishing his own business, Bret's, a chain of women's clothing shops in DeKalb, which flourished under his leadership.
Frank's charm and genuine interest in people from all walks of life won him many friends and admirers. He was a family man at heart, always encouraging his loved ones to pursue their ambitions and build strong characters. His legacy of kindness and mentorship is cherished by all who knew him.
Frank is survived by his sons, Steve and Scott Bredeson; daughters-in-law, Karen and Colleen; grandchildren, Collin, Evan and his wife Jennifer, Sean and his fiancé Isabel, Molly, Allen, and Bryan; and great-grandchildren, Pierce and Allaura. He is also survived by his half-brother, Craig Pratt.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jody Bredeson, who died in April 2018.
A graveside memorial service will be held on October 4, 2024, at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb, with the time to be announced later.
