Ervin H. Thierfelder Jr., 96, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at The Grand Victorian in Sycamore.

He was born August 7, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Ervin Sr. and Jeanette (Nelson) Thierfelder. Ervin married Carolyn J. Thuestad on May 21, 1955, in Angola, Indiana.

Erv was employed by Englander Co. in DeKalb, Standard Process in Chicago, General Foods in Battle Creek, Michigan and Arnold Foods in Greenwich, Connecticut. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in DeKalb. Over the years Erv served on several church boards where he and Kay resided. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, having served during WWII and the Korean War. 

He is survived by his daughter Kari (Noel) Childs of Sycamore; his three Granddaughters Stella, Trudie and Storey.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kay; his parents; his brother Tom (Bobbie) and his sister Janice (Joe) Isenhart.

 A graveside service will be held at 1pm, on Friday, March 1, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston, with Full Military Honors.
