Edna Schramm, 91, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center.

  She was born October 28, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Axel and Edith Johnson.  Edna married Edward (Ed) Schramm on April 30, 1955.  They were married for 66 happy years.

  Edna earned her bachelor's and master’s degrees from NIU in education.  She taught typing and shorthand at Elgin Larkin High School and NIU before teaching typing, general business, and history at Kaneland High School.  She retired from Kaneland in 1993 after teaching there for 20 years. After retiring, Ed and Edna spent many winters in Harlingen, TX, where her volunteer activities included reading with students at the local grade school and doing taxes for low-income people.  As an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church she organized vacation church school, served on the church council, and served as the treasurer of the Lutheran Church Women.  In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, camping, square dancing and playing cards with her many friends. Family was very important to her, and she was known for sending many greeting cards, emails, and newspaper articles to family and friends.

  She is survived by two daughters Cindy (Brian) Mogensen of Lisle, and Chris (Bob) Reinert of Vernon Hills; four grandchildren Joe (Jessica) Reinert, Beth (Peter) Heath, Andrew (Elizabeth) Mogensen, and Sarah Mogensen; two great grandchildren, Madelyn and Brandon, and six nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her parents, and her brother Edward (Audrey) Johnson.

   The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1915 N. First Street, DeKalb. Interment of cremated remains will be at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Forest Park. Illinois. 

  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
