Earl Hanssen, 64, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at his Home.

 He was born January 21, 1960, in Harwood Heights, Illinois, the son of Earl and Marian (Marquardt) Hanssen. Earl married Lynn Devers on May 12, 1984 in Elgin, Illinois.

 Earl was a computer programmer for Northern Illinois University. He then worked at Peoplesoft before returning to NIU prior to his retirement. He enjoyed playing board games especially 18XX, watching NASCAR, Formula One and Indy Car Racing.  Earl was also an avid movie watcher.

 He is survived by his wife Lynn; his son Don Devers of DeKalb and his daughter Susie (Brian) Grainger of Sycamore; six grandchildren Hailey, Karley, Kyra, Briden, Kloe and Braysen; four great grandchildren Bentley, Harper, Ashtyn and Faith; his father Earl of Rockford; his siblings Ellen Addy of Wonderlake, Gary Hanssen of Crystal Lake, Julie (Matt) Gehringer of Marengo, Jeanne Arndt of Marengo and John (Jennifer) Hanssen of Marengo; several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his mother.

 The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with Rev. Stephen Persson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.

 Visitation will be from 5:30  p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Funeral Home.
