Douglas Harold Antrobus, 74, of Cortland Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on January 4th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Doug was born feet first on February 4, 1949 in DeKalb IL to Harold and Viola (Pahaly) Antrobus. He graduated from Hinckley-Big Rock High School in 1967, then went on to graduate from Waubonsee Community College. It was there, he met his wife Charla (Pinnow). They celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 5, 2023. Doug spent 32 years working for LJ Dodd Construction in Oswego, IL before his retirement in 1999. After 4 months, Doug bored of retirement; returned to the working world. He spent another 5 years working for Kaneland School District in their Maintenance Department.
In his younger years, Doug spent time playing on various bowling leagues. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan, (when they weren't disappointing him) and his love for John Deere kept his blood green.
Those he leaves behind include; his wife, Charla, daughters, Stacy (Igor) Zapadinsky, of Lake Geneva, WI, and Leslie Antrobus (Robert Wright) of Smithville, Mo; A sister, Judy (Bruce) Thorp of Hinckley; Grandchildren, Caleb, Kaela and Hanna Zapadinsky of Lake Geneva, WI; a nephew, Jared (Breanne) Thorp of Hinckley, niece, Jenna (KC) McCarty of DeKalb; several cousins; friend and neighbor, Austin Clark; and his beloved dog, Tillie.
Doug is proceeded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice for all their care and support.
No services will be held per his wishes.
