Dorothy J. Knudson, 98, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.

 She was born July 3, 1926, in Belvidere, Illinois, the daughter of George and Mary (Herrmann) Butz. Dorothy married Lawrence Knudson on March 24, 1945.

 Dorothy was a homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother. She volunteered at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and spent much of her time translating bibles to Braille. She was an avid bowler and card player. She was a member of Prime Timers. Dorothy and her husband enjoyed many trips and cruises. She lead a full life to the end.

 She is survived by her sons Dale (Karen) and Duane (Cindy); her grandchildren Angela (Todd) Cambier, Stephanie Knudson, Michael (Alexandra) Knudson, and David (Rebecca) Knudson; her great-grandchildren Jack and Gus Cambier, Lucia, Finn and Theodore O’Brien; and many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence; her parents; thirteen brothers and sisters and many dear friends.

 The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 511 Russell Road, DeKalb. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.

 Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
