Donna M. Koelling, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and devoted family matriarch, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Bethany Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on February 6, 2026.

She was born on July 24, 1952, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Donna lived a life defined by dedication, strength, and unconditional love. She built a long and respected career with Nicor Gas, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Her strong work ethic and steady determination were qualities she carried into every part of her life. Beyond her professional accomplishments, her proudest achievement was her family. 

Donna found her greatest joy in attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering them on from the sidelines with pride and enthusiasm. Whether in the kitchen preparing meals made for friends and family, or spending time with loved ones, she created a life filled with love and laughter. Through every season of life, her family remained her top priority. Caring for them was not just something she did- it was her life’s work. Her legacy lives on in the strength, values, and love she instilled in each of them. 

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her selflessness, resilience, immeasurable support, and her lasagna, spaghetti sauce and taco salad!

She is survived by her children Carrie (Sam) Ottum, Chrystal Harness, Emily Harness, Amanda Harness (Aaron Schwartz) and Jeremy (Alessandra) Harness; her grandchildren Corey (Kelsey) Harness, Zachary (Jill) Ottum, Joshua Ottum, Jermiah Harness-Kemp, Taryn Harness-Kemp, Kyra Ozier, Noah Harness, Braylon Harness, and Skylar Harness; her great grandchildren Julien Larkin, Jase Harness, Jaxsen Harness and Josie Harness; her brother Dominic (Wren) Granno; her sister JoAnn (Romeo) Carrier; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Larry; her parents Frank and Rose Granno; and many nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. 

A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at Kishwaukee Country Club, 1901 Sycamore Road, DeKalb, Illinois 60115.
