Diane was born in Elmwood Park, Illinois, to William and Helen Dworsack. She graduated at the top of her high school class and attended Beloit College and Northern Illinois University, where she was an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She earned her bachelor's degree in education and went on to teach English at Sycamore High School. Diane married Charles (Chuck) Kittleson, the love of her life, in 1963. Together, they raised two children in DeKalb, Illinois. The couple retired to South Carolina in 2000 and then ultimately to Vero Beach, Florida, in 2019.
A passionate educator, Diane cherished the relationships she developed with both her students and her fellow teachers. Family was everything to her; she relished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as various nieces and nephews. She had a strong faith and was active in Lutheran and Methodist churches. Diane enjoyed her friends, tennis, bridge, book clubs, painting, gourmet cooking, crocheting, Panhellenic, water aerobics, tai chi, volunteering at animal shelters, and supporting Chuck as he played in numerous golf tournaments.
She will be remembered for her quick wit; kind, caring personality; gentle and dignified demeanor; her beautiful smile; and her ability to make everyone feel valued and special (and her chocolate chip cookies!). She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Chuck Kittleson; sister Nancy Kistler; children, Steve (Dana) Kittleson and Laura (Todd) Elliott; grandchildren, Emily (Miller) Norman, Brett (Taylor) Kittleson, Jenna Elliott, and Sean Elliott; and her great-grandchild, Lily Nicole Norman.
