DELBERT ROGERS

Delbert Rogers,86, of DeKalb, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on March 28,2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 9,1936, to Nellie E. Rogers (Rector) and Frank W. Rogers in Conway, Kentucky. Delbert was happily married to the love of his life, Patricia (Patsy) Isham for 64 years.

Delbert’s life centered around serving God and his family. He prayed passionately and guided his family on values that were the most important with life lessons. Delbert and Patsy’s love of God, family and each other serves as a true inspiration and testament to all our lives.  

Delbert is survived by his children Debra A. Scott (Thomas) of Sycamore, Illinois, Douglas J. Rogers (Kristin) of Tyler, Texas, Steve D. Rogers (Stacey) of Hilliard, Ohio, Wanda S. Hall (Charlie) of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Del W. Rogers (Heather) of Black River Falls, Wisconsin.

Delbert is survived by 14 grandchildren, Matthew, Lee, Tyler, Kenton, Michelle, Melissa, Myla, Andrew, Callie, Sean, Caroline, Heather, Emma, Noel and 12 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and 8 siblings, Bessie, Jiles, Thomas, Annie, Dovey, Beulah, Lorraine and Ivan.

Delbert was a man of few words, honorable, humorous and wise. He held several positions of interest in his lifetime. He was a Farmer, a Horseman, he worked on the railroad as a young man and retired as a Machinist for Delmonte Food Corporation after many years.

Our Father lost his sight gradually at a young age with a young family, yet he never gave up. He consistently demonstrated to his children that you can perceiver and find new paths and doors that will always open.  

Services will be held at the United Pentecostal Church at 1120 South 7th St, DeKalb, IL 60115 on Saturday April 8, 2023. Visitation will be held from 10am to 12 noon. A Funeral Service will be held at 12pm. Internment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Elder Care Services, 1701 E. Lincoln Hwy, Dekalb, Illinois, 60115. Pastor Robert Stewart officiating.

He never looked for praises.

He was never one to boast.

He just went on quietly working.

For the ones he loved the most.

His dreams were seldom spoken.

His wants were very few.

And most of the time his worries went unspoken too.

He was there-a firm foundation  through all our storms of life.

A sturdy hand to hold onto, in times of stress and strife.
