Dawn A. Ericksen, age 73, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Northwestern Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Darn was born on January 2, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ernest and Isabelle Ahrweiler. She graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1974 with a degree in elementary education. She married Glen P. Ericksen on May 25, 1974 and they spent their entire married life in DeKalb. Dawn worked at Founders’ Memorial Library, NIU until her retirement.

She enjoyed traveling, needlework, and quilting. During their life together, Glen and Dawn traveled throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico with Family and Friends. Favorite places included Pawley’s Island, Door County, San Francisco, Aspen and New Orleans. After their retirement, she and Glen enjoyed two European river cruises. She also traveled to Scotland with her cousin, aunt and uncle.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Glen in 2020; her parents; her brother Ernie in 1984; and two brother-in-laws.

She is survived by her son Mark Ericksen of Baltimore, Maryland; her sister-in-law Alice Ericksen of Galena; her sister-in-law Wendy (Ron) Tumminello of Lindenhurst; her beloved cousins Nanette, Isabelle, Jackie and Michelle; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dachshund Chloe.

Cremation was handled by Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.

A celebration of life will be held for Glen and Dawn in the spring of 2026.
