It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Davy Lee Ballou, who left us on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on July 11, 1957, in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Lillie and David Ballou. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, known for his unwavering love for his family.
He had an incredible gift for storytelling, captivating friends, family, and even strangers with tales that ranged from light-hearted to heartfelt, and from humorous to inspiring. He had a unique ability to make each person feel special and seen, whether through a well-timed joke or a deeply personal memory shared with a smile. His stories brought laughter to the dinner table, warmth to family gatherings, and wisdom to those who sought his advice.
If you knew Davy Lee, you knew how much he loved cooking. Whether experimenting with new recipes or perfecting family favorites, he found joy in bringing people together over a meal. His culinary skills were matched only by his warmth and generosity, always ensuring that no one ever left his home hungry or without a smile. He also credits his cooking as the reason his wife fell in love with him.
He is survived by his best friend and wife Vicki, son Michael (Karla) Ballou, loving daughter Dani (Brian) Reichenbach, grandchild Rylee Reichenbach, nieces and nephews Kerry (Scott) Ervin, Johnny (Julie) Latham, Sunshyne (Jermaine) Mason, Jeremy (Monica) Hamilton, Derek (Angela) Hamilton, Devon (Cheyenne) Hamilton, and great nieces and nephews Scotty (Brianna) Ervin, Debo Laughlin, Brad (Darien) Ervin, Shalyce Lewis, EJ Ervin, Jalen Mason, Patrick Latham, Javon Mason. His family was the center of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lillie and David Ballou, sister Cheryl Latham, sister Cindy Hamilton, and brother Jeffrey Pearson.
While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in the cherished memories he created with us all, especially around the family barbecues where his love and laughter will forever resonate.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 11 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Phoenix Club, 515 Phoenix Ct, Aurora, Illinois.
