DAVID WOODIN Obituary

David L. Woodin, 92, of Malta, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024.

 He was born in Marseilles, IL the son of Walter Roscoe and Mary (Studebaker) Woodin.

David attended grade school at Schaeffer, a one room schoolhouse.  He graduated from Rockford School of Business in 1953.  He then married Carol Dresser in DeKalb on February 27, 1954.

 David spent most of his working years at Ideal Industries as a Customer Service Manager prior to his retirement in 1990.

 He was a lifelong accordion player who shared his talent with many, including playing at nursing homes, public events, and many family gatherings.  In their early years, David and Carol were member of Road Knights, a hotrod club located in Sycamore.  David enjoyed flying his ultralight, working on his Studebaker, and was also involved in EAA, Malta Historical Society, Scouting, and he also served as the Mayor of Malta.  On many days he could be found in the shop he built working on his latest project.

 David was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Pat Johnson and many other relatives including his special Aunt Wilma Morey.

 He is survived by his wife of 70 years Carol; his children Jean (Robert) Sandman, Ted (Sandy) Woodin and Dale (Debra) Woodin; his grandchildren Emmeline (Kate), Erin (Josh), Jonathan (Liz), and Cody (Rui); his great-grandchildren Chris, Eleanor, Asher, Edward, and Killian; also numerous other relatives.

 A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
