Darlene Joyce Roland, 88, of DeKalb, IL passed away Friday, Aug 2, 2024, from Alzheimer’s disease peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 13, 1936, in Sycamore, IL to Vernon and Hazel (Klenzendorf) Halsted of Genoa. She was the first New Years baby for DeKalb County that year.

She married Donald E. Roland on January 23, 1954, in Genoa, IL. They moved to DeKalb, where they made their home for the last 70 years.

Darlene is survived by her husband Donald of DeKalb; her daughter Cindy (Tom) Harris of Savannah, TN; her sons Donald (Alice) Roland Jr., of Dallas, GA, David (Kim) Roland of DeKalb, and Paul (Barb Roedel) Roland of Esmond; her grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Roland, Amy Roland, Adam Roland (Jasmyne, with baby due in Nov), Lisa (Jason) Giles, Tina (Brian Leath) Pauley, Alex (Karissa) Roland, Harland Miller, Rachel Miller, Kristina Pearson; many great-grandchildren and one great- great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister Eilene Roach; her brother Vernon Halsted; her brother-in-law, Bill (Bette) Roland; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters; one brother; her son-in-law; her granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

No memorial service is planned at this time; however, one may be planned in the near future.
