Clyde Milton Strouse, 92, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024, at his home.

 He was born June 28, 1932, in Kingston, Illinois, the son of Basil J. and Clara (Collyear) Strouse. Clyde married Beverly Kohlberg on February 4, 1961, in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

 Clyde was a graduate of Hiawatha High School class of 1951. He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War as an MP. Clyde worked at Northern Illinois University for over 30 years prior to his retirement in June of 1997. He also worked for the DeKalb Recreation Center Bowling Alley.

 Most important for Clyde was being with family and friends. He enjoyed watching skydivers, attending fairs, parades and especially the Sycamore Steam Show. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, picnics and weekend adventures. Clyde was passionate about animals including dogs, cats, and birds. He enjoyed treasure hunting, metal detecting and collecting coins. Clyde never turned down a dessert! He had sweet tooth for Snickers, cookies, chocolate ice cream, cake and pie. When the TV wasn’t turned on for a western or Walker Texas Ranger, he could be found listening to his favorite music genres of Country Western and Big Band. He was a very sociable person and never hesitated to talk to someone. He shared his memories with his wonderful and amazing caretakers.

 He is survived by his daughter Lyne (Randy) Meyerholz; his brother Clinton Strouse, and several nieces, great nieces and great nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly in 2018; his parents; his sisters Helen (Cliff) Awe, Patricia (Bob) Campbell; his brothers Lynn (Norma) and Lyle (Betty) Strouse; and his sister-in-law Fran Strouse.
