Charlotte Ann Peel, 92, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Aperion Care in DeKalb.

She was born July 10, 1931, in Decatur, Alabama, the daughter of Roland and Martha (Brooks) Langley and lived for many years in Louisville, Kentucky.

Charlotte matriculated at the University of Chicago at the age of sixteen. She had published many letters in the Chicago Tribune. 

Charlotte spent her early adult years in Dolton, Illinois where she was involved with the Girl Scouts as their neighborhood Chairman.  She then worked as a court reporter for Sullivan Reporting Company for the remainder of her working years, moving to Chicago during that period of time.  After her retirement, she moved to DeKalb, Illinois where she worked at Northern Illinois University.

Charlotte loved art and music and was a tremendous reader. 

She is survived by her children Victoria Peel, Moira Peel, Mark (Frances) Peel and Jennifer Peel; her grandchildren Megan Vogelgesang, Michael M. Joyce, Ryan Peel and Sean Peel; and her son-in-law Mike Vogelgesang; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Nicola Vogelgesang; her sister Barbara Barrett and the father of her children Jerald Peel.

The Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Roger Carlson, officiating. Entombment of cremated remains will be April 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., in Skyline Memorial Park Cemetery, in Monee, Illinois.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 17, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
