Cary “Butch” Sebers, 61, of Marengo, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at his home.
He was born July 22, 1962, in Jefferson City, MO, the son of Bonita Newton Albers and Sterling Thomas, with step-father’s Lawrence Kauffman and Roger Albers.
Butch was an asphalt superintendent for Arrow Road Construction. He worked hard his entire life and took great pride in his work. He loved his family and friends beyond measure. Butch also enjoyed spending time on the golf course and watching the Cardinals win a game. His grill master skills were legendary, and his family will sorely miss having the opportunity to share a meal with him. He greatly enjoyed time with his grandchildren and will be missed at their sporting events and all the important stops in their life because he would have been right there cheering them on.
He is survived by his two children, Nicole Martin and her husband Travis of DeKalb IL, Joshua “Rocky” Ross and his wife Toni of Homer, AK; six grandchildren, Austin William Martin “Willy”, Jacob Lee Martin, Jordan Campton, Maliyah Montour, Joshua Ross, and Johnny Ross; three sisters, Diana McCarthy of Virginia IL, Connie Frese (Virgil) of Quincy IL, Renee Ferguson of Clarksdale MS; one aunt, Wanda Moreland (Wally) of Iberia, MO, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonita Newton Albers, Sterling Thomas, and Step-Father Lawrence Kauffman; his brothers, Gary “Herbie” Kauffman, Larry Kauffman, and Jerry Robin “Rob” Kauffman.
The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. Butch has requested to be cremated and to have his ashes spread in Hawaii which the family will honor at a later date.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
