CAROLYN WILSON Obituary

Carolyn Inez Wilson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother was born on June 17, 1932, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, where she spent her entire childhood. She was the eldest of four daughters, born to Earline and Joe Troupe, who have since passed away.

After completing her education at Aberdeen Colored High School in 1950, Carolyn, affectionately known as "Scooby" by her loved ones, worked various jobs before embarking on the journey of marriage and motherhood. She welcomed her eldest son before eventually moving and settling in Chicago.

While raising her family, Carolyn also dedicated herself to a successful career in the medical field, ultimately becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her passion and skills led her to work for over 30 years in nursing until her retirement in 2007. Following retirement, she relocated to Sycamore, Illinois, to enjoy her well-deserved golden years.

Carolyn is survived by her children: Jimmy A. Lackey of Eatonton, GA, JoAnn Lackey of DeKalb, Cecelia Bolles of DeKalb, Barbara Flowers of DeKalb, and Derrick Lackey of DeKalb. Sadly, her son William "Bill" Lackey, passed away in 2008. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, numbering seventeen, as well as an impressive lineage of twenty-nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Helen Price of Aberdeen, MS is Carolyn's only surviving sister.

Carolyn took immense pride in her family, cherishing the countless memories they created together. As her health declined, she often expressed the sentiment, "Give me my flowers while I can see them." In response, her adoring family and friends showered her with love, ensuring she felt cherished until her peaceful transition on December 6, 2023. She left this world surrounded by her loved ones and now rests in heavenly peace.
