Carol L. Denton, 82, of Cortland, Illinois, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. In the weeks leading up to her passing, Carol was surrounded by loving family members and friends.

She was born September 16, 1941, in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Grace (Jaehnke) Otto. Carol married Edward Denton on September 17, 1960, at St. Peter's Church in North Plato.

Carol was a devoted Christian and longstanding member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. It is a comfort to her family to know that she has found eternal peace in the hands of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her brother Richard “Duke” (Carol) Otto, and her sister JoAnne (Al) Sloan; her children Julia (Phil) Dacy of Harvard, Illinois and Jamie Denton of Indian Head, Maryland; her grandchildren, Jessi Vorpagel, Daniel (Meggan) Dacy, Andrea (Tim) Brown, Patrick (Ashley) Dacy, Brittanny (Robert) Crosby, Christopher (Amy) Denton, and Jessica (Charlie) Johnson; her great-grandchildren Austin, Kadin, Rylie, Peyton, Jack, Kaitlyn, Ian, Jameson, Paige, Lucas, Benjamin, Rachel, and Sadie; and her beloved friends especially Jill Pigott and Elwin Bushue.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward; her brother Walter Otto, and her sister Elaine Kuh (Otto).

The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 511 Russell Road, DeKalb, with Rev. Marty Marks officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at North Plato Cemetery in Plato Center/Hampshire.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Radio Broadcast Fund at Immanuel Lutheran Church and/or Barn on Baseline Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.
